An outfit and a little craft project...

It's been a lot of boring work clothes lately for meetings and blah- but today I got back into a dress.

vintage dress- ebay
red bakelite bangle- etsy
little heeled mary jane shoes- Sun Thrift

Things around the house have gone through a bit of an upheaval- so trying to get back into a routine and keep myself busy. I've been in the mood for a little bit of crafting lately- and this was the kick-starter project. I found this little basket purse at Target for $2 and sewed some trims on it. Here's a little before and after:

Now I'm just a plain bag. I am sad. I need bedazzling.

Now I'm a bag with stuff on me! Much better! Look at my little cherries! Let's go dancing!

I know it's just a little something-something of a project, but it's a start. Since then I've embarked on a couple of brooches, working on something in the style of Miriam Haskell. They are coming along. AND I know I mentioned my Swirl style sewing project a few posts back, well in my typical procrastinating ways- it is on the back burner. On a trip to the craft store, I happened upon a 99-cent pattern sale and ended up with a new pattern for a vintage style romper/playsuit. So I started in on that one instead.

Vintage Velociraptor

Let's just do pictures. This was Monday. Lots of coffee and sugar. I thought you, dear readers, would be interested in seeing my wide range of modeling poses. This has taken years to perfect. It is the expertise of only a seasoned professional. I would strong advise not to try these at home- for you may look stupid.

Standard outfit post (vintage dress from Etsy, shoes from Kohls).
A nice, normal close-up.
This is my little old lady pose. I think the hunch really brings out my eyes.
Oh my god, it's a velociraptor! Wait, no- a SEXY velociraptor!
Yay, life!

Meh!

It's been a "meh" kind of week. Work, cats, sleep, work, sleep, sleep.
I only have one outfit post to report, so here tis:

vintage skirt- Etsy
top- G Stage (cheap crap clothing store by my work)
flats- Walmart

aaaand...a close-up on the awesome veggie-themed print:
The rest of the week went a little something like this...including the awesome temperature regulating electric belt (not dangerous at all!)

Hair Fail and Miriam Haskell Eye Candy

Well, I tried something new with my hair last night. I decided to do a wet set with foam rollers. My hair is already naturally very wavy/curly.
I now have enough curl to choke a dead horse.
I think I'll have to wait until it's grown out more to try this again- but for now will just stick with my regular routine of straightening using an iron and re-curling with the curling iron or some hot sticks. Here are the less than thrilling results:
My plan of action is to stick a scarf over it and not think about it...instead...think about these:
Early Haskell Pink Glass Beads And White Leaves Vintage Necklace

WWII Big MIRIAM HASKELL Wood Berries Beaded Dress Pin Clip, Superb Condition

Miriam Haskell - War Era - Vintage Dress Clip

Vintage Miriam Haskell Brooch

There is something so appealing about these vintage Miriam Haskell baubles. I would love to take a stab at making my own little tribute pieces.

Two Quick Outfit Posts

It's starting to warm up fast- which means running the air conditioner, cats stretching out on the bathroom tile, and getting to wear the cute summer-y stuff again!

Yesterday.
giant vintage circle skirt- too old to remember it's origins
black top- G Stage
canvas kitten heels- Kohl's

Today.
vintage dress- Etsy
canvas wedgies- Chinese Laundry via Ebay
(look at how my crummy picture makes it look like I have one giant leg instead of 2- yuck- I just didn't have the patience to get a better shot today)

...and here is the little matching jacket.

My new favorite.

1940s Polka Dot Dress

I finally got around to making some repairs on this little dress I've had hanging in my closet for over a year! It's also the first time I've busted out these shoes- I could just never figure out what to wear with them.
I felt pretty fancy at work. So fancy that I'm now home in sweatpants totally worn out from the fanciness of it all. Fancy IS work. Fancy has earned me a nap.

1940s dress- Etsy
cardigan- G Stage (Forever 21 style clothing shop)
green heeled oxfords- Aerosoles via Goodwill
bakelite bangle- Etsy
birdie ring- Urban Outfitters

Close up of my little heeled forest green oxfords. I got these as well as an identical pair in brown at the Goodwill- they were brand new!
My odd little beak-less birdie ring. How does he eat? We may never know. It's a mystery. I imagine he must hum instead of chirp.

Viva Las Vegas!

I've been so enjoying all the posts on other blogs about getting ready for Viva Las Vegas!
I wish I was getting ready to go, too!
I have been twice and both times were tons of fun. I hope to go again one day when the time and the finances are right. I searched out some of my photos from my first visit, I think these may have been from 2002. I think the very best part by far was the outfit planning *swoon*
